The Permian Rush

3/20/2017

When you hear the phrase "oil rush", most people would think this was referring to an historical event taken place in some foreign land decades in the past. This could not be farther from the truth however in this case. The "Permian Rush" is the name I'm giving to the oil rush which is taking place right now, in our own back yard.

The Permian Basin spans from West Texas into New Mexico. Of course with all of the bad publicity from the Dakota Access Pipeline this oil boom has taken a back seat to its Northern neighbor although it is possibly more significant.  CNN Money reported land owners selling their land at a staggering $60,000 per acre which calls into question; when will this bubble burst? With oil selling at such low prices and the land selling at such extreme highs, it seems inevitable that something has to give. However, just like a bubble, a market can continue to grow as long as its walls are strong enough to support its weight. If the price of the goods are able to rise enough for sustainable profit without breaking the point of affordability then it's a win/win for both consumers and vendors.

Brewery Pipe Line being installed in Belgium

5/16/2016

De Halve Maan Brewery located in the historic city of Bruges, Belgium, commonly labeled  "Venice of the North" is installing a  pipeline connecting their brewery to their bottling facilities. This marks a historical event within the piping industry as another pipe line has never been made for this particular need before.

The growing popularity of quality beer is creating an entirely new subdivision of the pipe, valve and fitting industry. This is calling for an increasing need specifically for stainless steel and copper products due to their conduciveness to sanitary requirements.

Nevertheless it will be fascinating to see if this project is successful and the concept is adapted by other companies in the industry.

Johnny Albright has been with DBJ since November 19, 2012 however his career in the Pipe, Valve, and Fitting industry began long before. He has worked with other companies including parts giant Ferguson and the largest waterworks product company Fortiline. His experience on different sides of the industry has given him a great understanding for the many different facets of this seemingly simple yet complicated profession. His knowledge of the business as well as his "go get 'em" attitude makes him a tenacious salesperson.

Johnny's dedication is not only to his work but also extends to his family, which includes his dogs. He has two German Sheppards which he has raised from pups. He admires these dogs for their athletic ability as well as their loyalty.

Johnny is also extremely passionate about the UNC Tarheels, especially men's basketball. During the regular season he does not miss a game. He enjoys staying up to date on their stats and even the recruiting process. He has stated his excitement for next years recruiting class but also a bit of worry for the possibilities of losing some of their key players from this season.

Today weebly.com along with the city of Winston-Salem, NC hosted a free event to users and potential users of their web hosting site. DBJ created our own site this year utilizing Weebly's free website builder. We have been extremely impressed with the usability as well as variety of features offered with their free site building/hosting package. Our site functions extremely smoothly and looks great as well. I can hardly believe that we were able to create this for free!

The Like a Boss event was a great way for companies like DBJ to expand their knowledge and improve their website. There were many Weebly employees who were eager to help us out. Their extremely friendly staff was assisting companies to set up their website for the first time, optimize your site's SEO, and even improving or establishing E-Commerce. We were able to spend 1 on 1 time with them which gave us the opportunity to have all of our questions answered.

I would like to say thank you to Weebly.com for hosting the "Like a Boss" tour and coming to our area. Thanks for helping dbj.weebly.com become a "Boss" website!
Also, thanks for the amazing baja tacos www.banditotruck.com/

Safety valve could have prevented fumes from flowing into California Community

1/8/2016

Safety is often pushed to the wayside due to its associated costs. However in this case it would have paid to be safe. Southern California Gas Co. failed to replace a safety valve that was removed from an L.A. well over 35 years ago. Local residents were forced to leave and many are reportedly sick. They have since "lawyered up." If So Cal Gas Co. would have simply installed the necessary safety valve they would not be involved in a law suit, but more importantly California residents would be healthy and home safe. Instead, the company is now facing public scrutiny as well as litigation.
